Jason Villareal, DPT, ATC
Regional Clinic Director
Jason comes to Therapydia after successfully running two outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinics, one in Newport Beach, CA and the other in Coos Bay, OR. Jason is eager and excited to contribute his clinical reasoning skill set and exceptional customer service to the Portland community.
Clinically Jason has been involved in the sports medicine and physical therapy field for the past 14 years. He has had the opportunity to work at the high school, collegiate, and professional level with athletes, while also helping patients in the pediatric, geriatric, inpatient, outpatient, transitional care and home health settings. This vast amount of experience has given Jason a unique skill set to treat all levels of patients. Jason is excited to contribute his knowledge and experience to this community and he takes pride in making positive outcomes for each and every patient that he encounters. Jason has spoken at large physical therapy conferences regarding clinical efficiency and was most recently invited to speak at Grand Rounds for the physicians at Bay Area Hospital regarding running analysis and injury prevention. Jason has participated in many specialty continuing education courses and is actively looking for ways to advance his knowledge for movement sciences incorporating technology into the physical therapy field.
Steven Jew, DPT
Steve, Therapydia Pearl's Clinic Director, comes from the Bay Area inNorthern California. He received his B.A. in Sports Science with aconcentration in Sports Medicine at University of the Pacific inStockton, California where he also obtained his Doctorate of PhysicalTherapy in 2015. Steven immediately became involved in clinicaleducation by quickly becoming a Certified Clinical Instructor, andteaching a multitude of students from across the nation. He completeda 3-year post doctorate program to become a certified OrthopedicManual Therapist through the Manual Therapy Institute. As a result,Steven’s clinical approach is greatly supported by a “hands on”approach towards getting his patients better faster. He has mostrecently completed his certifications in Vestibular Rehabilitation,Athlete Movement Systems, and is further specializing in the treatmentand diagnosis of endurance athletes.When he isn’t studying or treating patients, you can find Steven rockclimbing with his wife Monica, or hiking with his dog, Luna. Stevenalso loves to snow shoe, snowboard, and play volleyball whenever hegets the chance.
Rachel Wilkinson, DPT
Rachel is originally from the Bay Area. She graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Southern California with her BS in Health Sciences. Rachel received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015 from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Amidst beginning PT school, Rachel went from running marathons to CrossFit as her fitness regime. She became invested in the CrossFit community and it became more than an exercise outlet for her. This is a group she can relate to and is eager to help or guide towards optimal movement and performance. Rachel is also passionate about Sports Medicine and enjoys working with patients of all ages and abilities. She specializes in shoulder and hip rehabilitation. Rachel has been continuing her education in female injury, prevention and return to prior level of function. This includes post-partum women looking to return to all levels of fitness. Rachel enjoys being active outdoors with her husband and dogs, enjoying Portland’s food scene, traveling to new places and playing recreational sports.
Ryan Eckert, DPT
Ryan, originally from Northern California, received his B.S. in HumanBiology from UCSD in 2013 before obtaining his Doctorate of PhysicalTherapy from the University of California San Francisco and SanFrancisco State University in 2019. During that time he studied withtop myofascial decompression and running biomechanics researchers andis excited to bring these findings into his clinical work. Prior tohis studies, Ryan was a former all-conference NCAA track and fieldathlete and has worked with a diverse range of clients over the last 5years in a variety of rehab and training settings. Additionally, he isa Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), certified inSelective Functional Movement Assessment(SFMA) and Rocktape, and holdsa Russian Kettlebell Certification (RKC) that provides him with theknowledge of how to modify and adapt exercises and manual treatmentsto optimize results of people seeking improvements in both theireveryday and athletic lives. When not at the clinic you can find Ryanexploring Portland via trail, bike, on the water or brewery andenjoying the outdoors.
Jessica was born and raised in Northern California. She is the eldest of 5 and her mom was one of 8; a big Italian family. She has lived in Portland since 2000.
Jessica raised her son, Camron, along with working as a Pharmacy Technician for 10 years. She enjoys reading, spending time with quality friends, fitness, and her American Bullboxer, Khaleesi.
Jessica is also a marathoner and has ran 2 full marathons and countless shorter distances over the past 8 years. Jessica’s passions include supporting women to be the best versions of themselves as she practices this herself. She mentored a team of fitness entrepreneurs and is also working on her skills as a public speaker.
